Comment: @Stephen: that depends on how much one likes each film from that the horse come from. I love the Road to El Dorado so to me,Altivo is better in charm, Maximus is better in motivation.

Comment: @Jose: That's completely incorrect. They're two completely different characters, Maximus being the more entertaining and well-animated one. The only thing they have that's the same is the fact that they're horses and they're white.

Comment: MDisney pretty much copied Altivo to make Maximus in Tangled

Comment: This probably won't mean much to anybody, but I have to point this out since I'm such a dork when it comes to really old movies. The Road to El Dorado was a tribute to a movie franchise of the forties and fifties starring Bob Hope and Bing Crosby who were 2 of the most famous entertainers of the time. Just like The Road to El Dorado, the titles of these movies were always "The Road to" and then the place that the main characters go to and were about two con artists that go on an adventure to somewhere around the world where they meet a hot lady (who was always played by Dorothy Lamour, another one of the most famous entertainers of the time) and always end up just as poor as they were at the beginning. And also just like this one, these movies were far from perfect, but they were still fun to watch. I'm not 100% positive that it was meant to be a tribute to those movies but it's similar enough to them that I would argue it.

Comment: I really liked this movie! It was really funny, and Miguel and Tulio's friendship is very believable. Also, next to Maximus from "Tangled" Altivo is the awesomest animated horse ever! Great review, guys!
