Episode 3:
AniMat's Top 10 Lists: Top 10 Worst Films Based on a Cartoon
Since Hollywood loves to destroy everybody's childhood with a bad modern movie adaptation, it’s time for AniMat to stand up, expose and punish the ones who fail both as a predecessor to the cartoon and as a movie itself.

Comment: You forgot about "The Chipmunk Adventure" when you were comparing movies. Don't take this the wrong way, but here's what I think should've been said. (Don't watch Yogi Bear, go and see "Hey There, It's Yogi Bear!," or don't watch any of these Michael Bay droppings, go see "Transformers The Movie," or heck, don't even watch any of these popstar rejects, go see the freaken "Chipmunk Adventure!") But I'm not critisizing you, I'm just pointing this out and expressing my own oppinion.

Hannah- Barbara , so it should be in the honorable mention.
And they are going to make a Phineas and Ferb live action movie.

Comment: @ Everyone, Do you know what really is the worst live action film based on a cartoon? A live action film based on a cartoon that's already based on an animated feature. But luckily for all of us, there are no films like that anywhere in the world, as far as I know. And let's just keep it that way.

I am so sick and tired of the phrase "bad movie". No movie is really "bad" because there are people who like them no matter what critics say! Not that I don't respect opinions or anything, but still. If a movie makes someone happy, the people who made it did their job right. :) (P.S. I used to watch the Bratz movie when I was little, AND ENJOYED IT!)

Comment: Alright Animat I am tired of all the lame He-man is gay jokes there are many reason why He-man is the way he is! #1. He-man is a mixed of Conan the Barbarian and Shazam. #2. Prince Adam clothing was by the animaters from filmation not mattel. #3. the way He-man appearance in the film is base on both the toyline and the cartoon series plus the cape is good. #4. He-man is in love with Teela both identity. #5. He-man was talking about the cosmic key to Courtney Cox character. #6. the reason Blade laser whiped He-man is because He-man refuse to kneel to Skeletor as his master. and finally skeletor make up is prettie good as a way to pay the red death scene in the 1925 Phantom of the opera with Lon Chaney SR.
In conclusion that the He-man is gay joke is in fact the worst joke ever and it is run into the ground. Plus I enjoy the film. You could say it is one of those film that someone love it that everyone else hate film. So Animat please dont call He-man gay.

Right when you said the title I knew it was doomed 7. Never been a fan, next 6. Animation Lookback Disney saw it coming 5. I would say you destroyed my childhood BUT I lost interest in the film as time passed on and I bet it destroyed your childhood 4. Yea, desperation for money disables the ability to think accordingly 3. I nominated for the "So bad it's hilarious" Razzy, even though it did not click with me 2. Please tell me Leslie did not end with this even though he tried HM. You'd think Hollywood would learn that by now, thank goodness the original creators are making P.A.F. 1. I think your Pikachu should have nuked it in addition to what you did. Barbie's only worthy rival is Disney. It's just that... my biggest gripe is that I haven't basically seen a single popular reviewer who says he or she loves Michael Bay's Transformers movies, or the Star Wars prequels. The closest thing I have to that is Carmine DeStefano, AKA The Bookman. But yeah... :/

Comment: @Kurvos
I understand where you're comming from (My first Star Wars movie was the prequel, and I really enjoy it.), but your post was a little harsh. The job of a critic is to movies analyze and point out the good and bad. It's okay to like movies that are consitered 'bad', or dislike movies that are consiterd 'good'. Just because people don't agree with you, doesn't mean that it's a direct insult to those who happen to like the films. AniMat was just expressing his own opinion and the majority opinion, and while the comment wasn't that rude through my eyes, I understand that it could've come off as a little harsh to a fan like yourself. I'm sure that no critics mean any harm in what they say, nor that it's a form of 'bullying' (Really? Sorry, just...really?), and they aren't trying to ignore those who love the film. In the end, it comes down to this one phrase; Let people give their oppinions, and they will respect yous. It's that simple; no one's here to have a better opinion than the person on the other side of the computer screen. :)

Comment: "Don't watch any of these Michael Bay droppings - go see Transformers the Movie!"
... I just can't let this go, dude. I love the Michael Bay Transformers movies - they are perfect popcorn flicks for me. Don't give this bullshit like it's a statement we must follow, dude. People say the Michael Bay movies are stupid - but personally, I think the original show is a lot more stupid. I am not pushing anyone down for preferring the original animated show - I am just saying I am allowed to love the three Michael Bay Transformers movies, and I think it's very immature and rude of you to call his movies his "droppings".
It's like with the Star Wars prequels with all this shit. People hate them because you will be pushed down if you don't. Yeah, sure - people come up with arguments about why they hate these movies. But am I allowed to say I love them? Sure, I guess.... but you reviewers are ignoring it, which I find offensive. It's like you don't give a shit - you just want us lovers of these movies to feel left out and bullied. Nice...

And that list was very true... I saw The Last Airbender with friends when it came out. I was so excited for it, but it ended up being almost the funniest failure at a movie I've ever seen. Apparently Shamalan watched an episode of it with his kid and wanted to make it a movie. I remember thinking, "That must have been the only episode he watched." Great list Mat!

Comment: @Anonymous- While I agree angry reviewers are a tired cliche that needs to stop popping up all over the place, Animat's not an angry reviewer as he makes more positive videos than anything, so when he does make a negative video, it's actually pretty unexpected, but anyway, the reason people focus on bad movies is to inform audiences to possibly skip them and warn them of how bad they are... or just vent bottled-up frustration towards the bad films.

Comment: Number 10: I liked the the series but the movie. It scared the living daylights out of me when i was a kid, and I was force to watch it at a babysitter's house. 9. I did liked the cartoon series and the movie was totally lame. 8. Never seen the He-man series, I've just played with the action figures, that goes double for the movie too. But your phantom dub over moment, from a hardcore phantom of the opera fangirl, it's not funny. 7. I just watch Beast wars, its much better than Transformers personally, I've seen the second movie not my favorite still. 6. Love the series and the movie series is my guilty pleasure. 5. My eyes were glued to the screen when I saw the cartoon series, it was one of few cartoon series that me and my sister bond with. The movie on the other hand....It's not my favorite. 4. Love the Dragon Ball Z series, And My brain and my friend's brains went on the outloud WHHHHHHHHHHHHHYYHYHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!! How dare they do that to a series that we love! Why! WHy! When we saw the movie. 3. I loved the anime deeply both the legend of Aang and Korra, but the movie is a pile of shit. I was in the movie theater with my two girlfriends and we saw they've skipped so many epsiodes that the movie didn't make sense. The characters were blain all you said right now. Its not funny... 2. Um..Again barely seen the series when I was a kid and never seen the movie and I don't think I will. The Pokemon movie rocked my socks off when I was little. And it helped me be encourage to try to make plushies. 1. Never been the fan of the dolls, i've found them very annoying and this pushed me to stay with plushies than plastic dolls, I take your word on this one on staying away from this movie. Bratz the movie and all it's product I can say bomfire anyone? And for the future ones if there any, I fear for our future of good movies.

Comment: My opinions on the movies: #10: Only saw the series, never the movie. Sure looks pretty sucky. #9: Only saw the series as a kid. Never bother to even watch the movie. Makes me wanna Kung Fu Panda. Po kicks CGI Yogi's BUM! #8: Never saw the He-Man series and the movie. Yeah, that looks more of a spoof. A super bad spoof! #7: Never saw the series much and I don't recall ever watching the first film. They'll sure bore me to tears... My sister's lucky number. #6: OMG, I HATE these movies! They destroyed the series! Being all hip and happening and I regretted watching all three of them! Except one in theaters. Actually, I at first assume you'd have Avlin on the #1 list. #5: Seen the series and HATED the freaking movie! Everything about it, including the atrocious Penny, is incredibly stupid! #4: Saw the series as a kid and never saw the movie. Thank Pete I never did since I saw Campbell's review of it. And let's just keep it at that. #3: Boy, it's my lucky number. I LOVED the series, including the spin-off (believe it or not, Nickelodeon ordered 26 more episodes!) The movie SUCKS! Everything is dull! The characters suck, the plot sucks and even the visuals were decent, but not enough to make it better. Your fight scene made me laugh so death I could have pee my pants off! #2: Saw both the series and the movie as a kid. Never remember it until I saw Nostalgia Critic's review. And you both are right: the movie is Pete-awful! #1: I only saw the series as a preteen, but never went ga-ga over them. Thank Pete I never begged my parents to buy me Bratz as a kid. In fact, I never knew the movie existed theatrically. I thought it a straight-to-DVD. And mimes in school?! I've never seen them in all my years in high school. Yeah, shows and movies like this makes high school look and feel like elementary school. SCREW THIS MOVIE!

Comment: Here's my opinions on the movies on this list.
#10. I saw it when I was 5 and it came out on VHS, and I completely forgot about it a month later. By the way, 4th wall jokes in my opinion only work in Muppet movies, "Airplane!" and "Spaceballs".
#9. Never saw it and I never will. But one of my friends saw it in the theaters and he walked out a few minutes after it started and got his money back.
#8. Never saw it.
#7. I never saw the show or the movies, but I can say this: Fuck you Michael Bay and Shia LaDipshit!
What's worse is that my mom has seen all 3 of these movies and even has a copy of the 1st movie.
#6. Seeing this movie and the 1st one when they came out on DVD were some of the biggest mistakes I've ever made in my life! And I have no intention of seeing "Chipwrecked".
#5. I have it on VHS and I strongly agree with you. But there is so much stuff to make fun of in this movie that it's one of my biggest guilty pleasures.
#4. Again, never saw the show or the movie.
#3. Never saw it and I completely understand why people hate it, but I have thought about seeing the show that the movie's loosely based on.
#2. There's a preview for it on the "Flubber" VHS I have and I had actually wanted to see it but never did, than the Nostalgia Critic's review of it convinced me to stay as far away from this one as possible.
#1. I actually never even heard of it let alone seen it but... WERE PEOPLE REALLY THIS FUCKING STUPID TO MAKE A MOVIE LIKE THIS?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Another bad adaptation I've seen but it's not on this list is "Underdog" when I was 12. And if I was 5 years older when it came out, I would have done what my friend did with "Yogi Bear" and walk out and hopefully get my money back.

Comment: Awesome vid! I have to agree with your choices however there are two on this list that are guilty pleasures of mine but you are right on the nose. God bless you for ripping the last airbender movie a new one. I have an idea for you on a future vid: Movies or properties that spawned an animated series. Examples: the karate kid, Dumb and dumber, ace ventura, M.C. Hammer, New kids on the block etc. I could go on for awhile on the crap that i know but it is just a suggestion and i think you would be the perfect person for this. Again great video and keep'em coming!

Just goes to show that you should take a Kids Choice Award winner with a grain of a grain of salt 98% of the time (I say 98% because there are a few awards that by pure luck go to the nominee that should win. But this rarely happens.) If I have to see Kristen Stewart win best actress again...*shivers* not that she's a bad person, but she can't really act. Heck, it's even mentioned in this video!

Comment: Cool list, AniMat! I especially loved how you used "Not One of Us" from The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride as your transitional piece. The only complaint I have is that you didn't include the live-action version of "Scooby Doo;" dear GOD, how I hate that movie!

Comment: Funny that you mention those honorable mentions lie The Simpsons Movie and Rugrats in Paris. When I first heard about you doing this Top 10 list of Worst Films based on a Cartoon, I had this little thought at the back of my head thinking that maybe you should do a Top 10 Best Animated Films based on a TV series. I can think up other films for that catagory like Beavis and Butt-Head do America, A Goofy Movie, Jetsons the Movie and the upcoming Phineas and Ferb Movie

Comment: I feel bad that you had to sit through a movie like Bratz. I never seen you so mad at movie before. i know how you feel i watched the "movie" (It its less than 30 minutes and this abomination should be ashamed to be called one) That is Ratatoing. I have never despised any movie in my life and even i hated The Last Airbender(Thank you for putting on your list and praising one of my all time favorite animated show next to Batman: The Animated Series). But at least it only had one unintentionally funny scene and decent visuals. Ratatoing was a rip off of pixar, Lazy, badly animated and has no real redeeming quality,AT All!!!!! So i would do the same thing to that movie like you did Bratz. But I don;t own a samurai sword. PS. Please watch the rest of Avatar The Last Airbender, You wont't regret it and i have friends who love the show including one friend who is studying animation in CalArts.

Comment: Here are my thoughts on the films on your list: #10: I disagree with you. This movie is the only one on this list that I like. #9: Never saw, and I'm glad. #8: Again, never saw it. #7: I never saw this film, but I can see why people hate it. #6: Again, never saw it. #5: The show was really cool (with an AWESOME theme song to boot!), but this movie sucked. #4: Again, never saw. Glad of it. #3: I never saw this film, but why it sucks is understandable. #2: I doubt it even had ANYTHING to do with Mr. Magoo! #1: They made a movie out of WHAT!?! P.S. With all these movies on here, I’m surprised you didn’t include “The Smurfs” (which was HORRIBLE!)

Also I agree that the second Transformers film is terrible.

Comment: I may have different opinions than AniMat on certain things on his list - such as "Rocky & Bullwinkle", the "Transformers" films, the "Alvin and the Chipmunks" films, and "The Smurfs".
Although I'm not that crazy about the pop versions of the Chipmunks' own songs.
And the only thing I found amusing about the first "Scooby-Doo" movie was the belching/farting scene between Shaggy and Scooby, and that scene in "The Cat in the Hat" with the "Kupcakeinator" scene. BUT THAT'S IT!

Comment: Animat, you have only destroyed the Bratz movie's physical form. Its demonic spirit lives on. The film cannot be destroyed by any craft we here possess. It was made in the fires of Mount Doom, only there can it be unmade. The movie must be taken deep into Mordor and cast back into the fiery chasm from whence it came!
P.S: All those future adaptations are gonna suck! Though the Samurai Jack movie seems promising since it's directed by the creator.

Comment: This was pricelessly hilarious Animat! All of these are films I haven't seen (except Inspector Gadget). Why? Because my instinct keeps telling me to avoid them! I just hate wasting my spare-time with films I just know I'm gonna hate. The last live-action film based on a cartoon I saw, was the movie version of the anime series "Mushi-Shi", and I prefer the cartoon version much more.

Comment: Oh god, your dance number made me break down in hysterics! A fun fact about the Last Airbender, I convinced my cousin that we should watch it to make fun of it, and she fell asleep in about five minutes. I was too annoyed at Sokka to fall asleep. I'm glad you like the Last Airbender show, it's my favorite cartoon! (Next to Ouran High School Host Club and Phineas and Ferb of course.) Just be glad you made this list now before they came out with anything else worse than Bratz.

Comment: @Kurvos- Yeah, Bionicslime put it best: How can robots be racist?
Also, Animat, I really hope you didn't go into DB Evolution thinking it was supposed to be based off of DBZ, (Like I assume that fellow in the coat did) because it wasn't. No... that mess was actually based off of the original Dragon Ball, you know, before Goku was apparently an alien and back when the only energy attacks you ever saw were Dodon Ray and Kamehameha. That makes the film even less faithful.
Anyway, I actually like the first two of the films you mention. For the reasons you listed in its favor, Yogi Bear was legitimately good. I don't understand why critics classify it as worse than Alvin and the Chipmunks when the characters act EXACTLY LIKE THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO!
Still, this was easily one of your best videos. I laughed at every single sketch you did, and I normally hate it when reviewers stop reviewing things for pointless sketch. Still, at least yours was relevant unlike most of James' sketch is... yeah, come on, people, that Bugs Bunny fight was painful, not funny! Bugs didn't even act like himself and you know it!

Comment: Transformers 2, really...? Come on now. I can rewatch that movie any day. Yes, I'm a fan of the Transformers movies. But don't worry - I realize their flaws. I hate the parents in the movies. But... the other things you find annoying, I find amusing and hilarious. And I don't get this silly thing about those two robots (or Jar Jar Binks for that matter) being racist. If you want to go that far - C-3PO can be racist as well, but for british people (and he is 10 times more annoying than any of those other characters, in my opinion). But if you ask me, it's simply to overanalyze. They are just dumb annoying characters - nothing to linger on in greater detail, really.
Hope you don't mind me loving the Transformers movies - I respect you for hating them. Just that... they aren't as bad as you make them out to be. I think they are entertaining popcorn movies. People can hate them all they want - I will always love them, no matter how dumb they can be at times. I love them, and I think they are awesome.
Otherwise, pretty good review. :) I would personally put Dragonball Evolution as nr 1, but... that's me. XP

Comment: I agree with all your choices except that "The Cat in the Hat" was not included. It is technically based off a cartoon with the 30 minute tv special. The live action movie was so bad that all it banned all Dr. Suess movies from become live action film adaptations.
