Comment: Good list but I have some critique: 1) The pound scene for me is sad, but a bit padding. 2) Pinky's letter..... no way. I actually think is the gayest moment in the show. Actually..... I always thought Pinky as a dumb gay assistant. THink it over..... yep.... is gay..... And his actions and scenes in this special is prove of his gayness. 3) The death of Mufasa.... ok.... fair enough.... But not as much as Panja's death (Jungle Taitei Leo) 4) Where is the death of Littlefoot's mother?

Comment: I definitely agree with your pick of number one saddest animated scene! :) This scene impacted me far more than the death of Bambi's mother, whose death did not impact me at all when I was a kid. The death of Mufasa has way more going for it than the death of Bambi's mother.

Comment: hmm, while I do agree with this list in some parts, as a anime fan, I feel like allot of stuff was left out. one particular piece is the ending to the series "Berserk" WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD The entire ending is the main and supporting cast brutally dieing or having horrible things done to them(the lead female is raped and the lead male is held down by daemons to watch, and losses his arm and eye tying to save her).

Comment: Sorry, just wanted to add one more thing to my previous comment. It seems like in Bambi the animators were originally going to show Bambi's mom being shot onscreen. The reason they cut it out was because Walt Disney thought it would be too much for a young audience to handle... if anything this decision probably made the scene have even more impact due to the subtlety added when the Great Prince breaks the news to Bambi.

Comment: Good list! I agree with the choices, especially the Pinky and the Brain special since it still makes me tear up whenever I see it. Another good one would be the montage of Carl and Ellie near the beginning of 'Up'. It powerfully showed the love and happiness of the two characters despite serious difficulties without using a single word of dialogue... come to think of it, most if not all of Pixar's films seem to have at least one scene that make people cry.

Comment: Yes it's me again. Here are MY Top 10 Saddest Animated Moments: 1. death of Mufasa (The Lion King) 2. death of Bambi's mother (Bambi) 3. "Baby Mine" (Dumbo) - I don't have kids of my own and I STILL cry everytime I hear that song! 4. death of Little Foot's mother (The Land Before Time) 5. death of Ray (The Princess and the Frog) 6. death of Kerchak (Tarzan) 7. near death of the Beast (Beauty and the Beast) 8. the "I'm Lost" scene (Lilo & Stitch) 9. near death of Dot (Wakko's Wish) 10. near death of Basil (The Great Mouse Detective) - yeah, I'm obsessed w/ this movie and its characters, but when I first saw this scene, I cried my eyes out, because 1. I was only about five when I saw this movie for the first time, and 2. you had no idea of knowing he'd survive. You thought he and Ratigan were both dead.

Comment: Saw your #1 choice a mile away. I still cry when Simba finds his dad dead every time I watch this movie, and I'm 20!

Name: Benjamin

Comment: I remember a lot of these, but one of the saddest is when Buzz Lightyear tried to fly through the window and then fell and broke his arm in Toy Story. When I was little, I cried during that scene.

Comment: Does anyone think that the scene with gurgi from the black cauldron should have been in the list?(despite that fellow not liking the film)

Name: Andrew

Comment: How about the ending of Castle of Cagliostro? Huh??? And ending of Batman: Mask of The Phantasm????????

Name: Martin from Sweden
Date And Time: 2010-02-28 07:06:28
Comment: What about the death of Littlefoots mother in "The Land Before Time"?! That scene makes me cry every single time, and I'm 23 now!! I'm a little bit dissapointed of this list! :( All the pieces of "the puzzle" fits in the scene; The characters, the colours, the backgrounds, the acting, the animation and most of all; the music (also written buy James Horner, who made the score to "An American Tail" and "Titanic"). It should have been on the top 10 list! :'(

Comment: There are wayyyyyy sadder moments in An American Tale than the singing. I would pick the orphan scene near the end as the saddest one because Fievel finally gives up that he won't ever see his family again. Come on how much sadder can it get when the character you've been rooting for for the entire movie because you know his will is strong and that he won't give up the search... and then he gives up because of what some other kids said?! That's heartbreaking.

Name: Robert Larsson
Date And Time: 2010-01-06 13:52:26
Comment: Good work as usuly but I miss two scens on the list. one of theam is the deat of Little foots mother (Land before time). That scene is even more sadd than Bambis mother becose our main carachter is sadd even a long time after. The outher one is the Song "Baby dont cry"(Dumbo). Come on, say that you at least tought on those scens when you made the list! Sorry for my bad spelling.

Comment: I've never seen Madagascar 2 or the series, so they would likely not have made my top saddest scenes list.

Name: gabe snyder

Comment: tell me this why did you not metion the sequl to madagascar and what do you think of the tv seris no jokes tell me

Comment: Great list, though I honestly would have replaced "Somewhere Out There" with "Wherever You Are" from Pooh's Grand Adventure: The Search for Christopher Robin.

Name: Eoghan
Date And Time: 2009-09-17 17:52:34
Comment: My picks are the endings of Pan's Labyrinth, American Beauty, The Host, The Green Mile, Bangkok Dangerous (1999 version); Agatha's speech in Minority Report; death of Peter from Crash; death of Walt from Gran Turino and the ending of Titanic.

Name: da man
Date And Time: 2009-08-11 22:56:45
Comment: I should see Grave of the Fireflies, to see Japan's take on WWII, particularly because that, like the Palestenian point of view on the ongoing wars between Israel and Palestine, are often not seen except in movies like Paradise Now and, well, Grave of the Fireflies.

Name: Erin
Date And Time: 2009-07-19 21:16:50
Comment: Very good list! but i would have to say that my pick for the saddest moment would have to be the end of Grave of the Fireflies. I cry like a baby every time i watch it. But very good pick for #1 though!

Name: Mizkex
Date And Time: 2009-07-18 12:53:32
Comment: Yes the same Mizkex as on Youtube I agree with the top 2 saddest scenes they really are sadest animated scenes of all time. Whenever I watched Lion King when I was little I would think "Maybe Mufasa won't die this time." As for "Jesse's Song", this made me never throughout anything old. I find War is never the sollution, killing innocent civilians makes things worse. Sure people will argue but killing them isn't right. Countries need to a way to settle their disputes in a non-violent way, like soccer!

Date And Time: 2009-07-18 01:16:02
Comment: Animated program always makes me cry more than live action! WALL-E made me cry so hard ...a lot of these did. I've have'nt seen the PatB christmas special yet(at least to where i can remember)but just seeing that scene made me start crying! I'VE LITTERALY SEEN THE LION KING MORE THAN 300 TIMES AND I STILL CRIED WHEN YOU PLAYED THAT SCENE!

Name: Keegon
Date And Time: 2009-07-17 23:21:00
Comment: Gah! the moment when Simba crawls under Mufasa'a paw is so sad! Great list.

Name: Alec.dever
Date And Time: 2009-07-17 18:55:45
Comment: Good list,man! *crying*

Name: Morgan
Date And Time: 2009-07-17 17:11:13
Comment: Huh? Abrupt ending. anyway, the thing that made me sad, what that when I was young and saw these moments, I didn't cry at all. Just sat through with a straight face. Looking back at it, that disturbs me.

Name: Joseph Basie
Date And Time: 2009-07-17 15:26:46
Comment: well my pick for the saddest since in film history woad be the dead of Ritchie Valens in the movie La Bamba in 1987

Name: Anonymous
