Comment: I'm ready. 11.We all have to say good bye to someone sometime and all we can keep is a memory. 10.Choirs always have the power to bring you in through the 4th wall like "The Mob Song", only different. 9.NO, All of the "Toy Story" films have some of the saddest songs I have heard, this one, "We belong Together" from "Toy Story 3"... 8.Well, I don't know what to say about this beauty. 7.I don't know what hurt more, the fall, the brake or reality? 6."An American Tale" is a depressing film, why wouldn't this make the list? 5.It is the finale that pulls at my strings. 4.I have got to see this film. 3.I'm glad you used this song to its fullest Hewy, sniff, good job man. 2.Why did you have to play with those cubs John!? 1.Could I expect anything more from a film that shows us the mother dying. HM. Any and every main song from the "Kingdom Hearts", these things make me cry, I would make mention of more but I'm about to waist all my tissues so I won't say any more. Thanks guys ;D/D;.

Comment: My Lord, these songs are sad. But there is one song you forgot that almost makes my jaw drop: "Baby Mine" from Dumbo.I mean, the very VISUAL of poor little Dumbo not being able to snuggle with his mother just breaks my heart. It should've at least been an honorable mention. Or in the place of "Once Upon a December", which quite frankly I don't find very sad.
BTW, have to disagree: the movie version of "Somewhere Out There" was ten times sadder than the LR/JI version. Again, the visual is enough to make it sadder: little Fievel separated from his sister Tanya, and yet they both know in their hearts that they'll see each other again. Heck, they're even singing the same song! Now tell me why the LR/JI version was sadder. Just TELL me.

Comment: What about "Baby Mine" from Dumbo, when Dumbo sees his mom in her cell crate? I shed tears at that. A mother and baby separated by bars. Now tell me that doesn't pull at your heartstrings. Just go ahead and try. Other songs (well, most) were beautiful.

Comment: 11- Sorry, haven't seen this movie, but looks sad 10- What makes me tearful in this song apart from it's beauty is that you know all the ghosts of the past have been killed in the revolution, it just gives real goosebumps when you think about it! 9- one of those weird songs that you hate as a child ("But mommy, it's so silly!") but then love when you are older, at least that's how I felt. So tragic, but powerful. 8- I've seen Bambi, but don't remember this song 7- Sad, but to me not as sad as Jessie's song 6- Sorry, but I never really liked this film 5- YES! MY FAVOURITE DISNEY SONG WITHOUT QUESTION! I know a lot of people would disagree, but instead of an entire orchestra (like with most Disney songs) you get pure passion, emotion and talent from the character's singing 4- Never seen this (sorry!) 3- Same as 4 2- BEST INTRO IN ANY ANIMATED MOVIE (but not necessarily from the song, more the scale and epicness) 1- My childhood favourite outside of Disney!
Great list!!

Comment: Good on most of them. I wouldn't say number 8 is sad. But what about "I want a Mom That'll last forever" from Rugrats in Paris? That has to be THE most saddest song EVER! Period! And Married Life from Up! I know it's not a song but it's such a sad piece of music!
Name: Charlotte
Date And Time: 2012-04-10 07:58:10
Comment: I have several honourable mentions that could have been used. "I want a mom" from Rugrats in Paris. Great song, real sad and it shows Chuckie's longing for something so simple yet so important. "Always there" from Lady and the Tramp 2. Again, highlighting a longing for something simple yet important. Another one could have been "Love will find a way" from Lion King 2. Like the past two I've mentioned,it conveys the same meaning. The characters are longing for something that we all take for granted and we don't know it until we don't have it. Overall, a good list.

Comment: To Sara: Glad you liked it! It opened my heart to other versions of Pinocchio even the short-lived Saban series (I have two dvds of it!) Pinocchio is much more balanced here than he is in the Disney version. Using a weak love triangle was a bad shot but it works only so-so. I also like the fact that the Blue Fairy is more better used here and more active in the plot. Willackers (aka Jiminy's Filmation clone) is well-rounded but he needs a little work!

Comment: the song in Fox & the hound is almost like the scene in A.I. Artificial Intelligence, some people believed the Jessie's song is almost like Featherstone's song from Gnomeo & Juliet, Buzz is almost like in Jim Henson's Christmas Toy, confused about ways of the world. i saw Fievel Goes West before i watched the 1st american tale movie, didnt they use the clip of Ave Maria for a christmas sing-a-long for silent night

Comment: A good list overall. I don't really agree with Part of Your World or I'll Go Sailing No More but that doesn't mean I think they're not good songs. They're great but they just don't really make me sad. My heart stops for a brief moment whenever I hear that call at the start of Circle of Life, no matter how many times I watch it. The score also makes me well up, definitely Hans Zimmer's best work xoxo

Comment: You left out some of the best ones like Bright Eyes from Watership Down, Someone's Waiting for you from The Rescuers, Baby Mine from Dumbo, Help the Outcast from Hunchback of Notre Dame, Reflection from Mulan, You'll be in my Heart from Tarzan (which beat "When She Loved Me" BTW).
Circle Of Life is not a tear jerker, it's an opening number to show what's bound to happen unless you're talking about the Elton John version. Absolutely Green is terrible, it's not a tear jerking song it's more like a national anthem of an eco-terrorist group.

Comment: While most of the songs on this list are quite fitting, there are a couple of songs that are more powerfully sad to me. The first time I ever cried during an animated movie was during the song "Mother Earth and Father Time" from "Charlotte's Web." Even to this day, I still cry when I hear it. Another one that never fails to make me bawl like a baby is "Baby Mine" from "Dumbo." All in all, this was a great review and I wholly agree with most of the songs you chose, especially number 1.

Comment: Okay, here are my opinions of the countdown. Uh, I'll have to excuse the clowns.
11. I love this movie. Yeah, the song is really emotional. Although it’s short. Ah well.
10. Another cool movie, and one of my new favorites, although I like most of the other songs in this film rather than this one.
9. Oh yes, finally, from a movie I’ve seen in theatres! Toy Story 2 was a great movie. And I must agree with you on the song. However, I’ve seen another movie in theatres and I’m sorry to say that it was more emotional.
8. Now it’s coming back to me. I should watch Bambi again!
7. Oh yes, this song. I agree with you about what you said, Hewy. And a really good moral, too. Toy Story is a great film!
6. Although I didn’t see An American Tail very much, I did listen to this song sometimes.
Truly deserves to be on this list. Yes, I mean the end credits version.
5. I remember this song. It’s actually really good. I’m glad to watch The Little Mermaid again.
4. Oh yes, this song. It’s a really good song and I like it. Man, it’s almost a year since I’ve watched The Secret of Nimh.
3. Actually, a really good song from a “terrible” movie. To me, the movie is not fully perfect and/or great. I don’t hate it. RIP, Dom Deluise.
2. Oh yeah, I love this song!
1. Yes! This makes me proud to have seen The Land Before Time a long time ago. And this song proves it. I love it!
Honorable Mention: I got to watch Fantasia again. I’ve hardly heard about this song!
I would like it if more modern movies have these kinds of songs. The Princess And The Frog is a great start for this.

Comment: While I agree that "If We Hold On Together," "Somewhere Out There," and "When She Loved Me" definetly deserve to be on this list, I feel that there are much sadder songs that should have been named:
"Baby Mine" (Dumbo), "Taking You Home" (Balto 2), "Soon You'll Come Home" (All Dogs Go to Heaven), "Always There" (Land Before Time V), "Always" (the snippet sung by a woman in the film) (Lilo and Stitch 2: Stich Has a Glith), "Bright Eyes" (Watership Down), and "No Way Out" (Brother Bear).

Comment: @Thesisguy: The clown was from a short film called 'Pagliacci', to which is also the song in the short. The short was produced by Loose Moose productions, the company that did the Apple Jacks commercials with the talking cinnamon stick and rotten apple. I showed this to Hewy, knowing that it would be a great idea for the transitions.

Comment: I nearly expected Bright Eyes from Watership Down to be on here, but the list ain't bad, number one deserved the spot definately.
I love Don Bluth, I really do, well okay, most of the good ones anyway, but "If We Hold On Together" did deserve the spot, just one of the most moving songs I ever heard.
The Land Before Time has to be one of my all time favourite movies ever. Watched it day after day and just loved it, Diana Ross does have a wonderful voice and yet the movie ended beautifully with this song. What made the Land Before Time so good methinks is that it's not a musical, like An American Tail or Anastasia, unlike those...*wretches* icky sequals... but still, the song is just wonderful, I constantly play it on piano when I get the time, just a beautiful touching song.

It's a lot and I really don't expect these to be made, but those are my suggestions.

Comment: 11. I agree; the song's not as potent without the poem in the beginning 10. Honestly, this song more gave me goosebumps than made me cry 9. This song always makes me tear up, mostly because of the beautiful vocals 8. Song: not really tearjerking. Mom death scene: WAAAH! 7. Poor Buzz! The tea party scene is funny, though! 6. AWWWW I LOVE THIS SONG! PS, I'm with you, Filmbuff, sequels SUCK! 5. Thank God, I'm not the only one who tears up at the scene where she's on the rock! 4. It's been years since I've seen this movie; I had forgotten how beautiful this song was! 3. I agree; sucky movie, pretty nice song. PS, RIP Dom DeLuise, you are missed. 2. Awesome song! Beautiful scenery and lovely song. 1. Oh yeah, I'm crying right now. Great list, guys! If I may, could I suggest a Top 11 Most Romantic Songs from an Animated Feature?

Comment: I have to say, this is a very good and original list. HOWEVER, you really should cut down your speeches about them, as this truly felt like it dragged on forever. If you don't want to shorten your speeches, might I suggest you do more than keep that totally expressionless face? I understand that it's part of your act, but it keep me totally uninterested in what your saying, because I don't believe you mean it. Just some constructive criticism, do with it as you will.

Comment: Excellent choice of music here. I never hated "A Troll in Centrl Park," but I never particularly liked it either. Dom Deluise might have been able to sing in character, but he couldn't carry a song in my opinion. I may have to give that one a second look, though. I'd have to say, the only song you forgot to mention here that brought tears to my eyes was "No Way Out" from "Brother Bear." Other than that, "If We Hold On Together" really does deserve a top place on this list due to it's influence. Don Bluth knows how to pick his showstoppers.

Comment: Not bad, not bad at all. I called #11 and 9 when I found out you were doing the countdown, lol. I was surprised that this came out so fast considering Freddie as FRO7 was done less than a week ago.
There were some unexpected ones that I found simply moving than full-blown tearjerking, but I respect your choices and some of the reasons given were even convincing. Prime example-#3. I nearly rolled my eyes when you mentioned this, but by the time that part was over, I was actually crying. Dom, voice of childhood, we miss you *sniff*

Comment: With Fox and the Hound, the visual is what makes it so sad, the song by itself is not going to be as emotional. Jessie's song from Toy Story should have been way up there, I can't say I never got rid of my toys but it really shows that sometimes we lose touch with our past. Somewhere Out There has always been one of my favorite movie songs, I actually have a picture sleeve 45 of the Ronstadt/Ingrum song that has an instrumental B-side which lets you sing it for yourself. Part Of Your World is a very heart filled song and really gave me reason to embrace Disney as well as Circle Of Life, but in a sense I find them to be more of a spirit booster than something to cry at. Beautiful list of choices though.

Comment: Nice countdown guys. I expected the two Toy Story songs to be there. Just a few notes. (1) I never thought of "Part of Your World" or "Circle of Life" as tear jerkers. (2) I love The Land Before Time and that song. (3) I think I've seen that "Absolutely Green" video you used. (4) Some songs I thought should've been here were "No Way Out" (Brother Bear), "Bestest Friends" (The Land Before Time X), and "My Mother" (The Chipmunk Adventure)

It doesn't even matter that I saw at least 3 of these coming a mile away (When Somebody Loved Me being the most obvious) because, hey, the list needed those obvious choices. Although, like others, I also felt Baby Mine would have been a great addition to this list.

Comment: Excellent list, and a great choice for #1. Some of these songs are some of my personal favorites in movies, especially Flying Dreams from my favorite film, The Secret of NIMH.
If I had to put an honorable mention in, however, it would have to be Bright Eyes from "Watership Down". But the honorable mention of "Ave Maria" is also amazing. Again, great job guys.
