Comment: Just want to say - Spirited Away is very, very overrated IMO. And I've seen it a lot of times for two reasons only. 1 - it has interesting visuals. 2 - I am trying to figure out what the hell people see in this movie. And trust me - I've heard a LOT of explanations from people why they love it. I still don't buy it.

Comment: @Andrew It occurs to me that this is opinion based and therefore isn't worth debating. You are entitled to your own opinion, while I create these reviews to share mine.

Comment: @Jaimetud Thanks :) @Carol Thank you very much :) You're the second person to suggest How to Train You're Dragon and Lilo and Stitch so I'll put a checkmark by it. I'll add the other request too :) @Pokeanimal: I'm sorry to say review is already finished, but I'm fond of both of these films and took all things into consideration. @Andrew Again...I'm not talking changing into different characters. Growth can be something as simple as learning from your mistakes and growing based on your experiences. I've seen Avatar (the series). General Iroh does grow as a character. Ariel doesn't learn ANYTHING. Even in bad movies, there can be character growth. It doesn't necessarily make good characters, but most good characters do grow.

Comment: @Animated Heroine: Characters who do not change are boring? Alright. General Iroh. I win this little argument :D

Comment: IF you review megamind vs despicable me, keep in mind that megamind becoes a hero at the end, while gru stays a villian, this adds character development to MM but Gru already has character development at the end of the film, and i find MM being a hero at the end cliched

Comment: I really like your reviews! A couple of suggestions: Pocahontas vs. Anastasia (both based on true stories) or Lilo & Stitch vs. How to Train Your Dragon (both Chris Sanders/Dean DeBlois films). Keep up the good work!

Comment: @South Jerkey Sam I'd rather my kids take after Ursula then Bella. @Andrew Shephard Thanks :) I will put those on the list. @Jacob Yeah, I like her too, they did a good job with her. @Andrew That...is not what I was saying at all. Most characters should have some sort of arc. There should be some kind of development. In real life people are constantly growing. In media, if a character grows and goes through changes it makes them more human. If you look at most Pixar movies, all of the characters experience some sort of growth. Ariel really doesn't...it's actually kind of fascinating how characters like her exist given that most of the time character development is what drives the plot forward.

Comment: @The Animated Heroine: Then what about characters who ALREADY WENT though change, ALREADY GREW?? What, throw them into the garbage because they are not needed anymore? I was NOT defending Di$ney princesses by the way.

Comment: I think Tiana is also a great Disney Princess and she is my personal second favorite to Belle.

Comment: Have you ever thought of comparing "The Lord Of The Rings"(Ralph Brakshi) with "The Last Unicorn". Both Fantasy animated films based on a popular novel, with Peter S. Beagle as the screenplay writer.

Comment: Nice review. Here are two films I've never considered comparing, but I can see where you were going. I actually watched The Little Mermaid for the first time in a while recently and thought the same thing. I loved the music and thought the plot was well developed, but the character of Ariel is very lacking. As for Ponyo I love that movie(and pretty much anything from Ghibli, but compared to Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke it does feel like it lacks a little. Looking foward to you future reviews!

Comment: Hey, if I ever have kids, I would rather have Ariel be a role model than Bella from 'Twilight'...

Comment: @Andrew The idea is not that they should change into different people, but that they should go through a change, as in, grow as a character. If a character grows during the course of a movie it makes them more human, and therefore more interesting. Disney Princesses are always perfect...and don't need to change at all...and, in my opinion that makes them kind of dull.

Comment: @jaykay1: Unfortunately I only do animated films. Sorry. :-/ @Frank Thank you very much :) I already have Coraline up against The Nightmare Before Christmas (probably for Halloween) since Selick directed both but I'll add the other two suggestions to the list. @Meg: Thanks :) Yeah, I have. She REALLY hates that movie. XD @The Mormon Sorceress: For the most part I would like to stick to animated films only. Sorry :( @Katie: Interesting suggestion. I'll add it to the list :) @Terry Wow, thank you. Now I am blushing. ^^

Comment: @TheMormanSorceress Actually, there's an animated movie called The Ten Commandments. It was made in 2007 and has Ben Kingsley and Christian Slater as the main characters. Sadly, the movie is terrible, so The Prince of Egypt would win no contest. A comparison between Prince of Egypt and Joseph: King of Dreams would be nice though.

Comment: It's to bad you only do animated films because it wold be cool if you cold do The Ten Comandments Vs. The Prince of Egypt.

Comment: I've never seen "Ponyo," but I totally love "The Little Mermaid." And heck yeah, Belle is best Disney princess! Great job, Animated Heroine! PS, have you seen the Nostalgia Chick's review of "The Little Mermaid?" She brings up a lot of good points about Ariel's character that I never would have come up with since I am a huge TLM fan!

Comment: Great video again, you are quickly becoming one of my favorite animated reviewers. I thought of some more movies you should compare. Coraline vs. Corpse Bride (Burton vs. Selick) Horton Hears A Who vs. Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs (Better film adaptation of popular Children's Book) Lilo and Stitch vs. How To Train Your Dragon (Better Sanders/DeBlois film)
