Comment: Do you think you can do Hercules and Cats Don't Dance? Those 2 are kinda in the same boat as Shrek and Monsters Inc., only in their case, it's the "Annie Award" for Best Animated Feature. Apparently, Cats Don't Dance won that award and not Hercules and the Hard Core Kid didn't know why until he reviewed the film. But what do you think?

Comment: I have to admit, I do enjoy Shrek and it's clever on how it started the fairy tale satires and Monsters Inc also fares up pretty well.

Comment: I'm so glad you picked Monsters, Inc. as the winner. Even though I love Shrek (in fact it's my favorite non-Disney.Pixar animated movie), even I think Monsters, Inc. is the superior film. And it's not because I am looking at them as an adult, but even as a little kid I thought Monsters, Inc. was the superior film. While all of my friends were into Donkey, I was into Mike Wizowski. He was my favorite character of all time! Though Shrek will always have a special place in my heart, Monsters, Inc. is the superior movie. And you're right. The Oscars do suck! I mean, Beauty and the Beast should have totally won Best Picture! Not Silence of the Lambs! And the same with Up and Toy Story 3. THey were both the best films of their year! (Well, I kind of prefer Fantastic Mr. Fox over Up, but that's just me). And it's not just that, but the Academy refused to award Star Wars, my favorite movie of all time, and gave it instead to Annie Hall. Although, I respect that movie winning, in fact I heard it's an awesome movie. But you get my point. Keep up the great work on your videos! :)

Comment: It's not just you, I also prefer Shrek's character to Donkey's (although I really love Eddie Murphy!) And yeah, it's extremely hard (if not impossible) not to like Sulley. Excellent review, Animated Heroine!

Comment: This probably one of your best reviews, mainly for your discussion on what is a satire, and your honest opinion about the oscars choice on havimg Shrek win the first best animated film award. I have another suggestion for you to do one of these days...perhaps "Grave of the Fireflies and "Barefoot Gen". Two animated films based on true-life stories on two people who survived World War 2.

Comment: I agree with you about the Oscer especaly when it comes to animation (infact I think Beauty and the Beast lost to Silence of the Lame was because it was animated). But when I become an animator I'm gonna make a film that will make them see it.

Comment: @Frank You know I didn't think about that movie while writing the review, but yep, would have fit. @Andrew Well for the most part Pixar deserves it and Shrek 3 and 4 were rather weak compared to the first two films. @Jacob Thank you :) Hehe, uploaded the movie to my comp in order to get that one clip for this review. I'll probably use it again tho. @Jon ^^ Thank you. I'll try to remember to do more comparing from now on.

Comment: YES YES!! Thank you Animated Heroine for making my wish a reality! I can see why Monsters Inc would edge out Shrek but I still think both were equal competitors in their own way. But great video, and you did more comparing this time around. Well done! :)

Comment: I have to say that this is my personal favorite Reel vs Reel because it's the best thought out which is saying alot considering all the previous ones. It's interesting how you really explore what makes good satire and that Jack and the Beanstalk clip was hillarious!

Comment: When bringing up the fairy tale satire in Shrek, I felt you missed a great opportunity to bring up "Enchanted". To me, Enchanted was a fairly tale satire that was done perfectly. The movie pokes fun at the classic Disney princess genre without coming off as bitter or mean-spirited like Shrek. There is plenty of charm and heart to find in the movie largely due to Amy Adams' amazing performance.
