Comment: Personally, I prefer "The Princess and the Frog" because I see more of myself in the main character (in a very weird way that I will only explain in person) than in "Tangled". Also, I prefer the hand drawn animation over the CG, which isn't bad just not my thing. Also I think TP&tF didn't do so well at the box office because the way it was marketed told the audience at the time a direct-to-home media film just for little girls while "Tangled" was marketed like a DreamWorks film. "The Princess and the Frog" was also released on the same week as Alvin and the Chipmunks the Squeakwel" and people were stupid enough to think the chipmunk film was better than the Disney animated fairy tale musical. The thought of is to me as bad as a Bat Credit Card.

Comment: If you thought Princess and the Frog's story was complicated, watch Jaimetud's "From Pages to Pictures" episode 1. Aparently, the novel the film was inspired by had a much more complicated story. Don't know what I'm talking about, see for yourself.

Comment: About the tear ending, I think it was supposed to be a nod to the original story. At the end when Rapunzel and her unnamed prince reunite somewhere she cries over his blind eyes and it heals them, at which point they live happily ever after. However I have no evidence to support this, so that's just my thought on the situation.

Comment: "I'm a girl"... don't do that, for fuck's sake. Don't put you in a genderrole, just because you have the god damn ability to cry. I can cry in movies too - and I am a guy. And I know a LOT of other guys who cries even more than I do when they watch movies. So cut the bullcrap, okay?

Comment: @Frank: At least it was established that Rapunzel had a magical quality about her, so teh tears make some sense. Falling in love with an inanimate object... MY GOD THAT IS SO WRONG... *vomiting*

Comment: Sorry I haven't replied to anyone this week. I've been really busy. Phew, lets see if I can get everyone in one comment. @Captain Ryno I can be bad with pronunciation sometimes. Sometimes even when I know how the word is said, lol. @Meg It is pretty creepy, yes :)Facilier did seem to have some jealousy towards him, you have a point there. @Beachman Thanks :) When I judge the songs, I judge them against previous Disney movies. They're not bad, I just don't think they're up to par. The Evangeline thing doesn't bother me, but to me the death feels slightly manipulative. I still can't get over the Tangled ending. I really can't which leads me to @Andrea Hehe, it is the one thing that really bothers me about Tangled. Someone mentioned that in the original Repunzel story she heals the prince of blindness with her tears, and I do remember that but they already changed a ton of things, so I don't see why they couldn't have changed that...and blindness and death are kinda two different things. It's just too cliche, I can't look past it. @Jacob and Frank Yeah, that song is nice. I don't like it as much as some of the songs in The Princess and the Frog but it is a nice song. @LizB I'm hoping it will be good. I never want to dislike an animated film even if it would make for a better review. I'm hoping Disney has gotten over their crappy phase (again) and is ready to give us more good movies. @Alec Dever I don't think the songs are bad, just not as good as what Disney used to do. Brave looks amazing. I hope it is. After Cars 2 I hope it is. @Jaimetud Honestly, I think I prefer it too. I'm just not sure I can call it better and I may be biased towards the animation. I really love 2D animation. @Andrew That doesn't bother me too much, at least not as much as the tear thing, but I can see how that can be considered corny too. His death bothers me more because it feels sort of manipulative to me.

Comment: @Andrew But the whole "tear heals wound and brings dead back to life" didn't bother you? Don't get me wrong, I like both movies; but both have obvious flaws that prevent them from being as good as the first 4 Disney Renaissance films.

Comment: The unbelievably stupid "bug falls in love with a star and becomes one after death" thing completely killed the movie for me.

Comment: Good show.Although I definitely have to go with "The Princess and the Frog" on this one, you made your points very clearly.

Comment: I'm considering seeing Princess and the Frog on DVD and Brave sounds like a movie I should check out. I disagree with your thoughts on Tangled's songs. I thought they were fantastic songs and 'I see the light' I thought was a pretty beautiful song (and I still think that's true).

Comment: Nice review. I love both movies and hope to see 'Brave' when it comes out. About 'Wreck-it Ralph', i hear it's gonna be like 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' where all the non-Disney characters make appearances, while with WIR it's gonna have classic video game characters make appearances. Also, for next RvsR, i suggest The Land before Time vs Dinosaur.

Comment: @Jacob I personally thought all "I See The Light" was better than all the songs from P&TF. The great thing about Alan Menken's music is even when he when he clearly has weaker songs, he can still get one great song in the movie.

Comment: THANK YOU! THANK YOU for being the only person other than me to complain about the Deux ex machina ending of Tangled! They never said earlier in the movie that her tears were magic, and they DID say that once her hair was cut, the magic was gone. So, in other words, it was just a lazy cop out! It worked in Beauty and the Beast because Belle didn't heal him with tears. She said 'I love you' and broke the spell. In that movie, it worked and it made sense. In here, it's a freaking cop out. So yeah, thanks. Great review as always btw

Comment: Love the review! But a few nit picks. Ray's death I think really made a good point. his love for the star (Evangeline) is heart warming and the point that he becomes a star and joins her is just made me cry with happiness. For tangled I remembered the songs a lot especially the I've got a dream song. And the reason Her tear resurrects Flynn is her last bit of magic but I can see your point. Anyway you are FABULOUS at Reviews!

Comment: I love both of these movies so much! I think Dr. Facilier's death may be one of the most horrifying deaths EVER in an animated movie, and I actually feel a tiny bit sorry for him. Mother Gothel, on the other hand, I didn't really feel too bad for, since she went out the same way as many Disney villains before her went out; via gravity (yes she turned into dust before she hit bottom, but if she hadn't she'd just be another evil pancake on the ground.) Excellent review, Animated Heroine! PS, my theory as to why Facilier is trying to off Big Daddy LaBouff is because for some reason he has a personal vendetta against him (IDK, just my theory.)

Comment: nit picking here sorry, but Facilier name isn't said that way. it's fa-cil-ie-a. sorry, it bugs me when people get names wrong. sorry about that. ^^' but that out of the way. i like both. sure, the songs from PF were good and trangle's was...eh~, but the stories was ok and i got the just the first time i say it. and the tear thing... yeah, cliché, but if you think of it from the story point of view, it might be that last drop of the magic flower healing him. just saying though.
